For more than 20 years NASSCO has set standards in the proper assessment of mainline pipes through its Pipeline Assessment Certification Program – PACP™. Now, building on those established standards, NASSCO certifies plumbers and small contractors in the proper assessment of building sewers and drains and cleaning of lateral pipes.
Certification Courses
BSDI™
The self-paced online course takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete and covers the general approach to an inspection, how to complete the BSDI inspection report, and assessment codes and associated requirements for a proper BSDI inspection. While BSDI and NASSCO’s Lateral Inspection Certification Program (LACP™) are both used to inspect laterals, BSDI inspections typically start from inside or very close to the building and go down through the lateral toward the sewer main, whereas LACP inspections typically start from inside the sewer main and go up through the lateral toward the building, without going into it.
Drain Cleaning
This self-paced online course takes approximately 2 hours to complete and is specifically designed for professionals involved in cleaning laterals. It provides the methodology to standardize the cleaning process to ensure lateral pipes are cleaned safely and thoroughly, while avoiding damage to underground infrastructure.
Version 2 of the Drain Cleaning course will launch in 2027 and will include instruction on the proper cleaning of both laterals and in-building sewers and drains.
