What changes should we expect with PACP™️ Version 8.0?

NASSCO is expecting PACP Version 8.0, along with updates to the MACP™️ and LACP™️ programs, to be released in 2023. In an effort to make sure we leave no stone unturned, to date we have received over 180 suggestions for improvements and/or updates to the Programs from trainers and students. In addition to improvements, the Programs will be reorganized to flow better which means moving LACP ahead of MACP in the training order. We are also looking at extent of defects particularly in new pipe versus existing pipe. Scoring is also being adjusted in some cases to better reflect current situations. We are also including additional Surface Damage Codes for pipes other than Concrete (Asbestos Cement).

Some additions will be the introduction of pressure pipe codes for use in force mains water mains and other pressurized pipes. We have assembled an international group of pressure pipe experts to create these codes and will use the existing PACP codes as much as possible. One area for new codes are valves, both as features and access points. We are also addressing codes from multi- sensor inspections.

Other changes include additional access points for stormwater applications to supplement the two current stormwater access points, and we also plan to include underdrains and perforated pipe for stormwater applications. We may have additional scoring for stormwater applications, as well.

For LACP we’re adding the fittings and access points to appendix B (color coded charts), and we are also clarifying various sections in the manual and PowerPoint to clarify any confusion from LACP. MACP is being updated with clarifications on continuous defect coding as well as better explanations of various Level 2 Fields. We are clarifying several sections as well as adding access points for stormwater applications.
